June 6...

(#6 Picture coming)

Hey K2 Kanakuk Term 1 Parents,
Routine! Yeah! I love it once schedules begin and the normal K2 schedule is happening! Well, today started that! The girls were headed to their individual schedule and it was a beautiful day! The classes were great and we also had our first backwoods of the summer!

Devo: Matthew. The devo really focused the beattitudes (blessed are the...) and I honestly can't wait for you as parents to hear about what your daughter learned...hopefully. They have about 30 minutes of quiet time to do their devo, journal in the book and just think and be still. We lose that somewhere being able to be still and rest in the Lord to hear his still gentle voice.

Morning: Normal morning of periods 1-3. Each kamper got to pick a specialty (main sport: basketball, fit-nut, dance, soccer, volleyball, k-equip, K2U (deeper version of K-Equip that is just for this term of kampers, triathlete (Woohoo! That is what Shay and I run together) and I feel like I'm forgetting one...My brain is a bit tired I guess. They also pick electives to do: ski, tubes, waterslides, crafts, leather, aerobics, canoe, kayak, tramp, etc.

Afternoon: Normal afternoon of Periods 4-6. They had competition of Kiowas versus Kickapoos in Soccer and a girl version of Flag Football. Super fun! I am gone from kamp so I'm not sure who got 1st place and who got 2nd place.

Night: K-LIFE TONIGHT! Don Ford is speaking tonight. He is the president of AFTERdark and PUREexcitement. He travels around basically sharing the gospel of Jesus to college campuses! It's awesome! He is also getting married to a gal in a few weeks! What a story they have! I know the kampers will be impacted by Don's message of truth.

Please join me in praying for the 11 days we have left with your daughters. Pray for soft hearts to see that they are loved and created with purpose by a God who loves them with all that He is! Thanks for being great parents!

June 5...

(#5 picture coming soon)

Hey K2 Kanakuk Term 1 Parents,
Day 2 is  HOT CRAZY DAY! It was awesome! Just to teach you all a new word that the K2 girls side is using...AWCREPIC! It is the total word of AWesome, CRazy and EPIC all put together! It's sweeping kamp! You guys can use it to each other...example: Dad comes in from work to say "hey honey, you are AWCREPIC!" Perfect!

Back to your daughter's world. We had a great day! It was full...very full! We had our "store" day where the kampers get all the kanakuk stuff, clothing, hats and nalgenes they want! Good luck with that bill! :) We also do our swim test, cabin photos and since it was a sunday we had a Sunday Funday activity. Here is the summary.

Devo: We start the girls' side devo book tomorrow morning. Each day is a different book from the new testament. So tomorrow we start with Matthew...

Morning: On Sundays kampers can sleep in and we have an "optional" buffet of coffee cake!!! They can come eat from 8 am to 9 am. We then had church where the BEST HUSBAND, DAD, MAN EVER SPOKE. Who you might ask? MY HUSBAND! Shay Robbins spoke to the kampers about the different kinds of "hearts" they might be walking in with. A heart that is broken with a hard year or loss, a heart that is claiming Jesus but not living it with the way they talk to you all...just all different "heart conditions." It was AWCREPIC! (see how to use it in a sentence! you'll get it!)

Afternoon: We had a "Chillax" afternoon (we like to mix words at k2...that stands for chill and relax in the same word). We opened the pool, had sno cones, fresh cut watermelon, trams to take them from the pool down to the dock, a floating dock of dr. pepper and blobbing going on. It was so much fun! It was pretty hot so most kids were in some type of water! It's such a fun day! I love Sundays at K2 as teenagers these days are so busy! It's crazy. I feel like seniors go into college as a junior with so many hours and the push of sports, grades, no time, and being involved just leaves them tired so I love Sunday being restful!

Night: We had a PARTY & Tribals! We had our Justice League Party and it was such a blast! We hid water bottles that had certain colored water in them all around kamp. Each cabin had to go around and find as many as they could and the cabin that had the most won! I actually never heard last night who won...but it was fun! We then had tribals where all new kampers that don't have a tribe are given one. Joe does an awesome traditional indian dance that is amazing! We then call each new kamper down to get her new tribe...Kiowa (red and white) or Kickapoo (blue and yellow). Hopefully if you have never been to kamp your daughter will write you to let you know which tribe she is in! This has such tradition and legacy to it!

Okay, so there's the day! Most days won't be this long. I am on time off with my family so I might be a bit slow to get back to get the pictures up. Hopefully blogger will fix itself soon...Thanks for understanding!

June 4...

(a picture of a "4" will go here but blogger is doing maintenance currently...boo!)

Hey K2 Kanakuk Term 1 Parents,
Well, opening day is here! Crazy!!! It has been a wild day and full of excitement and sunshine! Our opening day (if you have been to kamp before) is a bit different than some of the other kamps. We, due to the size of our kamp, have a drop off point and then the kampers go on in to kamp to get welcomed with the crazy crew of counselors. I hope you all didn't mind saying goodbyes quickly at the drop off point and prayerfully it was still a great experience. My favorite is when the parents are getting out with cameras in hand...I want to be those parents someday!

So after the kampers arrived we had a picnic, signed up for classes, and had K-Life! K-Life is by far the most favorite night time activity for kampers. They just love it! It's funny skits, games, a video where we spoof a mainstream video, worship and a speaker. It's the best! Joe White spoke tonight and it was great! What a privilege K2 kampers get to get by hearing from him so often during their terms.

All luggage is to each kamper and they are all tucked away for the night. Tomorrow begins more craziness...

Let It Begin...

{source}
Hey K2 Kanakuk Parents,
Welcome to the K2 GIRLS SIDE blog! I am so excited to share a small window into the girls' side of K2 and let you all know (in real time, as opposed to very slow snail mail) what is going on at this place. Some things you should know:
1. My grammar is awful. My mom is an english teacher and I am her biggest failure! Haha! But seriously! I type like I speak it.
2. This is only a window. It is very structured so it is something I have time to do each day while still being fully focused at kamp and kampers and not a computer screen.
3. There is no way I can upload a picture of every kamper. I pick 5 pictures a day that are "pictures" to exemplify the day the best. Please forgive me if I repeat certain people...please forgive!
4. Email me anytime you have any questions. ashley@kanakuk.com

I start tomorrow with letting you know the rundown of the day! Feel free to pass KanakukAshley on to your friends and family who might want to know what all your daughter is up to too...
