Hey K2 Kanakuk Term 23/3 Parents,
Here is the day for you all. Hope you aren't missing your girls too much. K2 girls' side is going great and we are having a blast!

Devo: I Timothy...Instruction in leadership

Morning: POD DAY! If you aren't sure what POD day means you can look back to my post for the date of June 22 or June 29. It explains more.

Afternoon: POD DAY CONTINUED...

Night: K-LIFE TONIGHT!! We split tonight and the monthers went to the boys gym to hear Seth Higgins, the K2 men's assistant director, speak. I only caught a bit of this and it was a story of the Alamo part so I'm not sure the main meat of the message. Joe had the 2 weekers and did the purity talk. Priceless! The bell (we have the kids come ring a bell when they give their whole heart to Jesus) rang several times last night! It was AMAZING!

July 5...

Hey K2 Kanakuk Term 23/3 Parents,
Sunny sunny day today! It's awesome! It's a warm one but we LOVE that weather report at K2. It keeps the kiddos having a ball in all their classes! I am going to be out of kamp until tomorrow night so I will be a bit behind with pictures and the July 6th post. Thanks for understanding!

Devo: I & II Thessalonians...Stand Fast.

Morning: Normal morning of periods 1-3. Treetops was cabins 5 & 6.

Afternoon: Normal afternoon of periods 4-6.

Trip: Girls cabin 13 and 14 are still at K-Wet until tomorrow morning. Girls cabins 9 and 10 are at K-Wild for a day.

Night: WOAHMAN NIGHT. This night is always a favorite. We break our 20 cabins into Units. Each unit has a UC (unit coordinator) that helps oversee those cabins. So the UC's are in charge tonight of their unit and doing something fun...I am going to try and remember off the top of my head what each unit is doing...
Cabins 1-6: pool party with fresh pineapple fruit
Cabins 7-10: easter egg hunt with sugar cookies and frosting to decorate
Cabins 11-15: Night-time Slip-n-slide and then smores at the dock/lake front
Cabins 17-20: Movie Night with trail mix

July 4...

Hey K2 Kanakuk Term 23/3 Parents,
HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY! Goodness, I started tearing up tonight during the fireworks as the Star Spangled Banner song rang through my ears. I am so thankful for all the men and women serving our country by risking their lives to protect it. Fireworks, root beer and theme music are so small in comparison of the applause and recognition our troops deserve! Happy 4th everyone!

The day was awesome! Classes, July 4th, our Redneck Olympics party and fireworks...that equals a great day!

Devo: Colossians...Life in Christ Alone.

Morning: Normal periods 1-3. Treetops was cabins 9 and 10.

Afternoon: Normal periods 4-5. (no 6th period b/c we had the party).

Trip: Girls cabin 15 & 16 are at K-Wild right now which is where they hike, rapel and do all kinds of cabin bonding! Girls cabin 13 & 14 are at K-Wet. They all got to come back for the fireworks show!

Night: REDNECK OLYMPICS! Party nights are so much fun! We had to shorten some things for this party since we had the fireworks show at 9 pm. So we had dinner and then we had all the kids come down for a hoedown with Dr. Joe White. Joe is really a great dance "caller." Ya know those guys that say "bow to your partner, now doe-see-doe." He has all these dances that he teaches the kids! It's a blast! We also had root beer and watermelon! Deeeelish! Then we had like an hour show of fireworks...maybe not an hour but really close! It was AWECREPIC!

Hey K2 Kanakuk Term 23/3 Parents,
Wow! WHAT A FANTASTIC DAY! We had beautiful weather today...warm but beautiful! We had a quick little rain shower tonight and it cooled things off a bit! Here is the rundown of the day. It was crazy day 2 for our Term 3 kampers and lots of rest and hangin' for our monthers since it's Sunday!

Devo: No devo study on Sunday.

Morning:
MONTHERS: Coffee cake, church and FCA huddle groups (they break into groups for discussion time on the church speakers) and #1 FOB time with their cabins.
2 WEEKERS: Coffee cake, church, station rotations (swim test, photo of cabin, store, and classes sign up)

Afternoon: We all had a FOB time with our cabins just relaxing, writing letters and hanging out. Then everyone headed to Sunday Funday. This afternoon we had World Tour. We had "Antartica" in the chapel with AC and a movie playing, the pool was Fiji with sno cones, the Adventure area was Ireland, and the slip and slide was Hawaii...it was a blast! Kampers adore Sundays!

Night: K-LIFE TONIGHT! Don Ford, president of afterDark and pureExcitement brought the word tonight to the kampers. His talk focused on living for Christ is WORTH IT. It was so rich with reminders that although popularity, pleasures and stuff off this world looks appealing and "worth it" that it is rubbish compared to living for Jesus. It was so good!

Okay, headed to bed! Hope you all are having a great time and praying daily for your precious daughters!

Hey K2 Kanakuk Term 23 / 3 Parents,
(Term 23 = the 28 Night Parents since it's both Term 2 and 3 put together for the 28 night term. It's Term 3 as far as 2 weekers go)

July 2nd goes down as one crazy day! It was a blast! We got new kampers for cabins 1-6 and cabins 7-20 (our monthers) got to go out of kamp for what we called a "24." A "24" is usually something staff only get but this year we decided to go AWECREPIC! (new parents: AWECREPIC is the mixture of awesome, crazy and epic all together). So here is the rundown:

New Term 3 Kampers: THEY ARRIVED. That's the basic summation. Once you dropped  them off they got to ride a tram to the girls gym where they were introduced on stage to their counselors for this 2 weeks. It was so much fun!

Monthers: They had a day out! They left at 9:30 in the morning and didn't return till dinner time. They got to go rollerskating, float the lazy river and ride the waterslides at K-Kauai (Kanakuk's family camp), eat pizza and watch Cars 2. I have heard nothing but great things from all of them.

Night: K-LIFE TONIGHT! The greatest, most Godly man, handsome, smart and best dad in the whole world spoke tonight SHAY ROBBINS, the hubs! It was so biblically rich. He focused in on Ephesians 4 and the name of his talk was Deception. He spoke about how the enemy wants nothing more than to deceive each of them whether on big picture issues or individual heart issues. It was so so so so good!!!! Awecrepic if you will!

Crazy Day #2 for the new campers is tomorrow...and lots of cabin bonding for everyone on Sundays!

Hey K2 Kanakuk Parents, (NEW TERM 3 PARENTS!!)
Welcome to the K2 GIRLS SIDE blog! I am so excited to share a small window into the girls' side of K2 and let you all know (in real time, as opposed to very slow snail mail) what is going on at this place. Some things you should know:
1. My grammar is awful. My mom is an english teacher and I am her biggest failure! Haha! But seriously! I type like I speak it.
2. This is only a window. It is very structured so it is something I have time to do each day while still being fully focused at kamp and kampers and not a computer screen.
3. There is no way I can upload a picture of every kamper. I pick 5 pictures a day that are "pictures" to exemplify the day the best. Please forgive me if I repeat certain people...please forgive!
4. Email me anytime you have any questions. ashley@kanakuk.com

I start tomorrow with letting you know the rundown of the day! Feel free to pass KanakukAshley on to your friends and family who might want to know what all your daughter is up to too...
