July 31...

Hey K2 Kanakuk Parents,
Well, I'm back and promise to stay somewhat caught up...

Devo: Esther 7:1-10
Verse of the Day: Proverbs 16:3-4

Morning: Normal morning of classes 1-3.

Afternoon: Normal afternoon of classes 4-6.

Trips: girls 11-12 were at K-Wet.
Treetops: cabins 5 & 6.

Night: UC/WOAHMAN NIGHT. This night is such a fun/laid back one! UC stands for Unit Coordinator. These are 7 gals that oversee 2-4 cabins a piece. We have a leadership gal that is in charge of our UC's and the UC's are just another touch point person for our staff and kids to have if they need anything. Anyways, they plan this night for their units and each unit has a different activity. Here are where they are tonight: dance party in the girls gym, tie-dye party at the dock, movie in the chapel, smores at backwoods and one more that I can't remember. Sorry I can't remember which unit is where. I promise all are there and having a blast! Oh, and woahman is just another way to say woman. I made it up a few years back b/c the Lord looks at each gal and says "Woah" b/c they are His creation...henceforth Woahman was born!

July 30...

Hey K2 Kanakuk PATIENT Parents,
Oh goodness oh goodness!! I'm so sorry I have been MIA...I truly love doing this blog but the last 2 weeks every summer are always my hardest to keep up with b/c usually I am out in kamp way more than the office b/c it's the "last" time to do it all so I seize the day much much more! It's just a bananas term...which is awesome!

For July 26-29...It was a great 3 days. We had carnival night and on Changeover day when Term 5 kids came the 28 Nighters were out of kamp all day going to K-Kauai's lazy river, eating pizza and lots of sugar, rollerskating and maybe a movie...I can't remember as I don't go on the day out but am in kamp for changeover. So I'm just jumping back in to the blog starting on July 30...your understanding is precious!

Devo: Psalm 121:4, Ezekiel 1:24
Verse of the Day: Romans 12: 20-21

Morning: Normal morning classes of periods 1-3.

Afternoon: Normal afternoon classes of periods 4-6.

Trips: Girls cabins 13-14 headed out for K-Wet.
Treetops: Cabins 9-10 had treetops.

Night: K-LIFE TONIGHT! Mr. Don Ford is speaking and he always brings it! Tonight I think (I got the low down from his wife of what he was speaking on since I was out of kamp) he spoke on "don't be a christian." I think this is a play on words since the word "christian" sometimes is so vaguely used and not passionately used to mean you are sold out with all that you are to the Lord in your life. I'm sure it was amazing.

Okay, I'm back...lots of catching up to do...stay tuned for more posts...

Welcome Term 5 Parents...

{source}
Hey NEW K2 Kanakuk Parents (you guys will be Term 45/5 is what we call you because it's Terms 4&5 put together to make 28 nights and just Term 5 for 14 nighters)

Welcome to the K2 GIRLS SIDE blog! I am so excited to share a small window into the girls' side of K2 and let you all know (in real time, as opposed to very slow snail mail) what is going on at this place. Some things you should know:

1. My grammar is awful. My mom is an english teacher and I am her biggest failure! Haha! But seriously! I type like I speak it.
2. This is only a window. It is very structured so it is something I have time to do each day while still being fully focused at kamp and kampers and not a computer screen.
3. There is no way I can upload a picture of every kamper. I pick 5 pictures a day that are "pictures" to exemplify the day the best. Please forgive me if I repeat certain people...please forgive!
4. Email me anytime you have any questions. ashley@kanakuk.com

I start tomorrow with letting you know the rundown of the day! Feel free to pass KanakukAshley on to your friends and family who might want to know what all your daughter is up to too...

July 25 & 26...

Hey K2 Kanakuk Parents,
Well, I'm a few days behind...so sorry! We are in the middle changeover right now so we are getting cabins 1-14 of 14 Nighters packed and ready. I love chaotic days out here...they just keep you on your toes!

Devo: Esther 5:1-14
Verse of the Day: 1 Thessalonians 5:16-17

Morning: Normal POD morning.

Afternoon: Normal POD afternoon.

Trips: none
Treetops: cabins 1-2.

Night: K-LIFE TONIGHT! This night was so special. Dr. Joe White is the speaker and he brings a message of love, hope, forgiveness, and commitment on PURITY. It is always a heavy night but so so so very good. We always pray before this night for girls' hearts to be softened to the message of walking purely is so WORTH IT! From being a gal that didn't kiss my hubby till our wedding day I just want to scream from the highest of mountains that it is so WORTH IT! Joe does a great job on covering the whole spectrum of where your teenage daughter could be...whether that's challenging and encouraging the girls to continue their life of purity or reminding them they are forgiven for anything from their past or present. It's just a special night!

Devo: Esther 5
Verse of the Day: 2 Corinthians 10:5

Morning: Morning Karnival Practice. Karnival is a long standing tradition where the girls side puts on a carnival for the guys side. They do games, prizes, huge banners and a precious dance based on the theme that the Tribe Princess has selected. It is a lot of work but the girls LOVE performing and putting on the carnival for them.

Afternoon: We had extended rest period for the 14 nighters to pack and then headed to the girls gym to watch Tangled since we had a bit of a rain storm come through. Needless to say the girls LOVED that!

Trips: none.
Treetops: Cabins 6, 7 and 8.

Night: CROSSTALK (14 nighters) & Worship Night (28 nighters). CrossTalk was so very powerful last night. We had the theme for CrossTalk being the Passover. We walked through the Old Testament Passover with the purest lamb and then had 4 kampers speak at different locations about when Jesus became their Passover Lamb of the doorpost of their heart. We ended with Dr. Joe White reenacting the crucifixion. Joe is great at these nights as after the "drama" he speaks about how he hung there for 60 seconds and what Jesus truly did. He speaks on how a father's love is so big and that if they would have been the only person in the world that Jesus would have done that for them. He invites kampers to walk through a doorpost (we built this huge doorpost) representing that Jesus is their Passover Lamb in their own heart. The bell (we have kids ring a bell if they accept Jesus into their hearts) was ringing and ringing! It was truly a special night!
28 Nighters: had a night of worship in the Chapel. They sing, pray for CrossTalk, share scripture and pray together as cabins and small groups. They also love this night.

Okay, so there is the run down. I can't wait to see some of you all tonight and 28 night parents...you are 1/2 way there! Please let me know if I can do anything for you all!
