Closing Ceremonies for Term 45/5...

Hey K2 Kanakuk Term 45/5 Parents,
Here is the scoop for Closing Ceremonies.

FRIDAY, AUGUST 12TH:
5:00 pm     Luggage pick up (soccer fields) and Kanakuk Store is Open.
5:30 pm     Parents' Picnic (kampers join you alll at boys: 5:45 and Girls: 6:00)
6:45 pm     Family Vespers at K-Dome.
7:30 pm     Kamper Recognition (each cabin spread out on tennis courts with just your daughter's cabin)
8:00 pm     Tribal Flag Raising
8:30 pm     Awards Ceremony with Term Video at K-Dome.
10:00 pm   Good Night! (if you are taking your kamper you must sign out. we have NOTHING in the morning for kampers but breakfast and they say bye. so they aren't missing anything just fyi)

SATURDAY, AUGUST 13TH:
8:15 am     Breakfast for the kampers still here.
9:00 am     Bye Bye!

Hey K2 Kanakuk Term 45/5 Parents,
It's laundry day! That is what makes this day exciting!

Devo: Hebrews...Jesus: Absolute and Fully Sufficient.

Morning: Normal morning of classes. Cabins 11 and 12 were on Treetops.

Afternoon: Normal afternoon of classes.

Trips: Cabins 7 and 8 are at K-Wet.

Night: CHRISTMAS IN AUGUST! It was so much fun! We had cookies with icing and sprinkles to decorate with and carols. We also did a huge game of the game of a white elephant exchange. I don't know if you all have ever played it but it was a blast! We had all the girls wrap a "gift." It could be an old tshirt they didn't want, play dough they got in the mail, headbands, nailpolish, just all kinds of goofy stuff. It was a riot! They had a blast!

I'm so behind...here we go catch up time...

Devo: Titus, Jude, & Philemon...Titus: Instructions for Faith.

Morning: Normal morning periods 1-3. Treetops was cabins 7 and 8.

Afternoon: Normal afternoon periods 4-6.

Trips: Cabins 5 and 6 were at K-Wet.

Night: K-LIFE TONIGHT! This was a kamper led K-Life. We had kampers lead worship and then 2 kampers shared too. It is always so cool to watch peers lead and it is usually so much more impactful because it is ONE of them. So cool to watch!

Hey K2 Kanakuk Term 45/5 Parents,
I am headed up to schedule classes tomorrow but wanted to get the blog done for the day!

Devo: II Timothy...Equipping the Faithful Disciple.

Morning: Normal morning of periods 1-3.

Afternoon: Normal afternoon of periods 4-6.

Trips: Girls 19 and 20 were at K-Wild and girls 9 and 10 were at K-Wet.

Night: MOVIE NIGHT! Girls only!!! Girls LOVE LOVE LOVE this night. We turn on the AC in the girls gym and watch Tangled. We make this delicious popcorn with m&ms and it is just a fun all girl night! Relaxing and so fun!

Hope you had great days and please continue to pray for your sweet daughters heart to be open and softened to all that the Lord desires for her!

Hey K2 Kanakuk Term 45/5 Parents,
It's been another great POD day here at K2! For you new K2 parents you can look back to postings on July 27th, July 20th, or way back to June 8th for the explanation on POD days! They are basically the best invention (wait, not invention...idea) idea ever at K2. Thank you Debbie Jo White!

Devo: I Timothy...Instruction in Leadership.

Morning: Morning Pod of their choice. Treetops was cabins 1 and 2.

Afternoon: Afternoon Pod of their choice. Treetops was cabins 3 and 4.

Night: K-LIFE TONIGHT! Tonight Dr. Joe White keeps the 14 nighters in the girls gym for the Purity Talk and Seth Higgins, the K2 Assistant Men's director, speaks to the 28 nighters. For you new mommas and daddies of Term 5 kampers I pray that this night would be either a turning point or a continued launch for your sweet daughter(s). I pray that they would know full well that they are wonderfully made and that they are PRICELESS! Their worth is in a Heavenly Father that loves them. They are His Favorite...each one of them!!! I love thinking that I am God's Favorite but as are His other "kids." Love that!

August 2...

Hey K2 Kanakuk Term 45/5 Parents,
Almost caught up...and pictures are coming!

Devo: I & II Thessalonians...Stand Fast.

Morning: Normal morning of periods 1-3. Treetops was cabins 5 and 6.

Afternoon: Normal afternoon of periods 4-6.

Trips: Girls cabins 3 & 4 were at K-Wet today.

Night: WOAHMAN Night! Let me explain "woahman." It's a term that basically means that the Lord looks at each gal and says "woah" b/c He created them wonderfully. So instead of "woman" we say "woahman." So tonight is just girls night and each UC (unit coordinator who is in charge of 4 cabins each) plans a fun night. I think I know what most of the units did:
Cabins 1-5: umm...I can't remember.
Cabins 6-10: umm...I can't remember this either...goodness you can tell my blonde momness is really coming out after being gone a day. So sorry!
Cabins 11-14: They went to the dock and had smores and did some praise and worship.
(all Term 5 kids then came up to go to Joe's Creation talk. He always wants both set of 14 nighters to hear the creation message. it's awesome under the stars!)
Cabins 15-20: They I think had movie night with a fun game before hand...I think :)

I promise we knew where all kampers were tonight! I was having some AWESOME conversations with some AWESOME parents and didn't get a chance to be out and about tonight! But I promise there was planned, monitored activities. I'm just laughing at myself at this point! Please be laughing at or with me too! :)

Hey K2 Kanakuk Term 45/5 Parents,
Oh, my goodness! I walked into craziness tonight! Great craziness but craziness none the less! I had great plans to blog July 30, 31, and get caught up but alas it is 10:54 pm and here I am...so I'm jumping into August 1st and just praying for grace for the other days I've skipped. I just want to get something up for you all to have and know what's up in K2 land! Thanks for being so awesome!

Devo: Colossians...Life in Christ Alone.

Morning: Our first normal morning for Term 5 kampers. It was great. So periods 1-3 were awesome. Treetops was cabins 9 and 10.

Afternoon: Normal afternoon periods 4-6.

Trips: Girls cabin 13 and 14 were out at K-Wet for a day.

Night: K-LIFE TONIGHT! Don Ford, president of afterDark and pureExcitement, spoke tonight and due to my family being gone I'm not totally sure what his message was but I'M POSITIVE it was AWECREPIC! :)

(gotta run to the office and call taps for the girls...i'm going to try and get August 2nd up tonight too)

Term 5 Begins...

Hey K2 Kanakuk Term 45/5 Parents,
(You are Term "5" as in the last 2 weeks of summer. When I type each day I will always type to Term 45/5 parents so it's our monthers (which are term 45) and our two weekers which is the slash and 5...make sense? Perfect!)

Welcome to the K2 GIRLS SIDE blog! I am so excited to share a small window into the girls' side of K2 and let you all know (in real time, as opposed to very slow snail mail) what is going on at this place. Some things you should know:
1. My grammar is awful. My mom is an english teacher and I am her biggest failure! Haha! But seriously! I type like I speak it.
2. This is only a window. It is very structured so it is something I have time to do each day while still being fully focused at kamp and kampers and not a computer screen.
3. There is no way I can upload a picture of every kamper. I pick 5 pictures a day that are "pictures" to exemplify the day the best. Please forgive me if I repeat certain people...please forgive!

Hey K2 Kanakuk Term 4 Parents,
I am hoping you all got the post on the schedule and are most likely leaving the gates of K2 now...what a great night filled with great kampers! I had a moment today with just 1 kamper that made my entire summer worth it. All I will type is that she strolled into K2 angry, feeling abandoned by God, afraid, frustrated and confused...she is leaving softened, encouraged, knowing God never leaves her, and clinging to Him. That is why we do what we do. (read the update to the monther's parents as I share with you about the past  few days)

Can't wait to see ya for summer 2012...

Hey K2 Kanakuk Term 45/4 Parents,
Sorry I haven't been updating. Changeover is a bit cray cray...but in an AWECREPIC way! Here are some snidbits (is that a real word or just a word my mom made up??)

Devo: Ephesians (7/28)...Unity in the Body of Christ. Philippians (7/29)...Paul's Joy Letter.

Morning: The past 2 days has been working on the Carnival that the Kicks and Kiowas put on for the boy side of kamp. Carnival is a long standing tradition and although it's fun, hard work...the girls LOVE to put it on for the boys side of K2. LOVE. They have booths with carnival games, prizes, banners that they painted, and do a dance at the end! Precious!

Afternoons: July 28th we had specialties for the afternoon and for July 29th we had a huge all K2 pool party. Woohoo!!

Night: We had Praise and Worship for the monthers and it is always a favorite night! For the 2 weekers we had our CrossTalk...all I can write about CrossTalk is it's the best CrossTalk I have seen in 11 years of working at K2. It's simple, raw and speaks of not only salvation but turning from junk and then not being "free catchers" of God's Grace. I honestly could type forever about it...hearts were transformed...prayerfully!
