December Loves Part 2...

Hey K2 Kanakuk Friends,
Here is part 2 of 5 more Favorites for the Holidays...let me note to that I truly desire Christmas to stand for the celebration of God's wonderful plan of bringing his Son to this earth in a stable. I do not see gifts as more important AT ALL. This is meant for a light hearted, fun, "oh ashley likes that, weird" occurrence. Nothing deeper.

6. Boot Socks. Love these boot socks from here. However they only have 2 of the colors and of course it's the grey and dark green. I heart those mustard yellow ones. I would put my whole self in them if I could!

7. Owls! I am obsessed with 3 things right now: owls, burlap and lace. Random but obsessed! This owl necklace found here is just a.dor.able! It's only $12.99. Bargain!!!

8. Colorful, Small Earrings. I am obsessed with these! You can click here for this gals blog but when I clicked on her shop there were no items. These earring are everywhere though!

9. Beautiful prints...I love the messages and the whimsical feel to her prints/design. You can see more here!

10. Kisses from Katie...I honestly have not even read this book but am going to hopefully this month. I read her blog (www.kissesfromkatie.blogspot.com) and she truly is a faithful, inspiring young woman. I am writing to her at some point this month to see if she has a 2 and 1 year olds that my girls can befriend and send toys/clothes/whatever they need and to build this for my 2 girls for many years and prayerfully someday take them and meet the 2 girls of Katies. Weird, maybe, but maybe just maybe she might go for it...mom to mom. She wrote a book and I just want everyone to go buy it to support the Lord's ministry through this young woman. You can go here to read more about it and find out where to buy it.

December Loves...

Hey K2 Kanakuk Friends,
I will be giving away all the following prizes...YEAH RIGHT! Who do you think I am Oprah? How cool would it be if I could...dream, dream...

1. Pinterest. I am officially obsessed. But not in the way that everyone else is. I honestly am DOING stuff from it. Like a lot of items. I tag stuff that I actually want in my house or crafts and DIY's that I am actually doing. Woohoo for action steps!

(I know that #1 is not technically a gift of some sort to give someone...sorry)
2. iPad2. Ha! Well this is truly just a want...just think they are cool.

3.  I love small businesses and this is MY FAVORITE on Etsy. The Red Thread has cute Christmas decor, adorable onesies/burp cloths and if you have anyone with a baby you must buy a Christmas beanie hat! Presh!

4. Daytimers, planners, and colors, OH MY! (did you get the movie reference there?)...I love my yearly planners. Last year I got one from here but this year there is a voucher for an Erin Condren (usually $50) and so I bought a $50 voucher for $25 buckeroos! Woohoo! That's 50% off! Who wouldn't love a little organization in their life...it adds minutes to your life if you plan!

5. Lovely Little Headbands...(shameless plug, but I am obsessed with these even if I do happen to make/sell them too). I am still rocking these basically everday. I just love them and just think they are lovely with a dirty hair, messy bun look that I rock every day. You can check them out here.

More to come tomorrow...

Favorites...

{source for background image}
Hey K2 Kanakuk Friends,
Well, it's a Tuesday, which seems like a great day to do a Favorites post. No one else is in my living room to argue not doing it so here I go...

1. TJ Maxx. Simply stated there is no explanation needed. The precious ones and I go there often to simply browse the treasures.

2. Toddler 411. Great read. This is my favorite list so this makes sense but prayerfully none of you kampers are reading this book. But file it away for  when you all become mommies...baby 411 and toddler 411. Love them.

3. H&M. My BFF Jennifer got the precious ones some clips from there while she was in Savannah, GA. They are so vintage and have gorgeous fabric so therefore I am favoriting H&M.

4. Kanakuk Grey T-shirt. Old school. Soft. Simple. Perfect.

5. Tanya Beardsley and Her Closet. Tanya from the K2 Leadership team may or may not leave some of her stuff in my basement. She might have given me permission to borrow whatever...and I have taken much liberty! Miss having friend roomates...so fun to have 3 closets instead of just boring 'ole 1.

6. Sonic. Always.

7. Shark Tank. The show. It's like business/inventors who need investors. Very on the edge of your seat and gets my inventive juices flowing.

8. Fabric. Just loving fabric right now as I make headbands (http://www.lovelyheadbands.blogspot.com/) or for all the fun sewing projects in my head.

9. Our beanbag chair...it's been extra comfy here lately and fun when we throw the precious ones into it.

10. Fresh Dips Guacamole (I just had to google how to spell that). Grocery store. Fresh avocado, smash, add fresh dips. Deeeeeeeeeeeeelish! Cut peppers and dip away! Thanks to my kid sitter for this one!

I'm sure this list has changed your life and hearts. Go forth better than before...

1. Plush Owl from Etsy. How cute is this! I love any cartoon owls right now! It might have a subconscious twist because I was a Chi Omega and owls are our mascot.

{source}
2. These headbands are magical! I wear them literally almost everyday...my dear friend makes these and not to unveil my thoughts but they might be seen very often on my head this summer...

{source}
3. Kleenex. I have allergies like crazy so kleenex are the fav in our house right now. I love this little kleenex cover i found. But the favorite is the kleenexes.

4. iPad 2...hey bill gates...HAHA! Just kidding! I have learned my lesson! The iPad 2...sidenote: will they just keep numbering stuff and so someday (like in a month) we will have the iPhone 476. Ponder that? I don't have one but it's just in my dreamy mcdreamy world!

Favorite Things Friday...

Hey K2 Kanakuk Gals,
I don't know if this will be a weekly post but I found this oh-so-cute sign for Favorite Things Friday and had to use it! Enjoy my favorite things as of now...cue Julie Andrews singing "these are a few of my favorite things..."

1. Yankee Candles...well, any candles! I pretty much always have 1 candle lit in our kitchen for smell goodie, atmosphere and just it's pretty. My fav scents are fruity or clean scents. Presently I have early sunrise in the Robbins kitchen.

2. Great Value Foccacia Crust Pepperoni. I am a bit double sided as the Walmart in Branson has like started stocking weird variations of their Great Value pizzas...what happened to foccacia pepperoni people? So yummy! 3. Good 'ole Saturday morning garage sales. I went 2 weeks ago and found 2 clean, smoke free Vera Bradley large totes for $15.00. Woohoo!!
4. DIY Magazine. (DIY = Do It Yourself). Jennifer Farley got me hooked on this magazine! Again, lots of projects I want to do and some maybe I will actually do! :)
5. Amy Butler Fabric...or any fun fabric. We have an AMAZING fabric store in Springfield that I can spend 3 hours in each visit...no really, I really do spend 2-3 hours when I go. OBSESSED.
6. IKEA in general (went for my first time 2 week ago...life changing!). But specifically these desk trestles that I would love for a desk (with a tabletop of course!). Woohoo! Need a real desk as opposed to our dining room table. 7. You all should know this one...ETSY. I am officially the president of Etsy fan club borderline crazy obsessed with this site. I embrace my obsession and am okay with it! Just love all those crafty people out there!
8. Woven Baskets! Of any color, texture, brand...I love them! These below are from Ikea! I would love these for our laundry room that someday will have a wood piece on top of our washer/dryer to put cute little baskets like this!Well, I am sure this just changed your life to know my favorite things for now. BUT seriously, what are your favs right now in your world? I am pretty focused on home stuff because I am still nesting in our home...but maybe you are focused on music stuff, clothes (surprise every teenage girl!), or athletic stuff. Whatever it is, what are your favs?
p.s. I wonder if I should send this blog post to Shay...Christmas ideas galore!

Fall is Coming...

Hey K2 Kanakuk Gals,
Well, today it has been a slight overcast but also sunny...all at the miraculous same time! Anyways, it made me think of weather, which also made me think of my great friend Jane who is slightly obsessed with fall, which made me think of why does she live in Iowa and not in the Ozarks where fall is like just amazing. (Goodness that was quite the tangent of thoughts as well as making me miss my friend Jane).

Anyways, so it also led me to my thought to post some (seriously I could have posted like 100 things) things I love about Fall being on the way! Sit back and think to yourself, "self, what do you love about the wonderful fall season?" Is everyone thinking that? Good...let's begin...

1. Soups...I don't generally like order soup at eating places but in the fall when I walk through the doors of Panera (or any sandwich/soup joint) it just calls my name...tomato basil, minestrone, vegetable, potato...yummy!

2. Fleece jackets, long sleeve shirts, little hoodies...again, I just want to go get mine out and throw it on with some denim bermuda maternity shorts (I'm laughing at my kitchen table at my own writing...so sad!). I like just a little extra layer, now don't get crazy. I'm not one to have one 5 layers to step outside but love the long sleeve tee with jeans rolled and my rainbow sandals. That's a great outfit!
3. I love the changing of the leaves. In Branson this is like majestic around here. Shay and I will probably be traveling for Kanakuk Tour during this time of awesomeness but maybe wherever we are on the road it will be a beautiful fall there too!

4. Caramel Apple Spice...I mean, really, it's like drinking dessert. We have some gift cards to Starbucks and I feel like I got such a deal when I can order this and pay with money that is free! Woohoo!!
5. Arkansas Razorback (you can fill in your favorite high school, college, or NFL team) Starts! I love the Razorbacks and although such a has been to my college days now am still a fan! Shay has also turned me into a Chicago Bears fan (NFL...not really my thing but I am now a fan due to the marital oneness).

I Heart the Olympics

Hey friends,
Seriously, I am slightly obsessed...well, nothing about it is slightly...with the Vancouver 2010 Olympics. I DVR all of it and feel this overwhelming unity with the whole world during the games. The athletes that they do "feature" stories on become like best friends and I just cry during medal ceremonies for the athletes...USA or not! I just love them! Am I alone here or does anyone else feel this way? Well, I know my friend Jane (also my neighbor) loves them too!

So hope you are watching the games because they go so quickly...here are my top 5 favorite things about the olympics:

1. Bob Costas: I just think he is the best anchor for the Olympics! I think he is so authentic and calm! Weird, I know!
2. Figure Skating: Seriously, I love the story of the Chinese couple who won the gold. They are married and were just precious in their "feature" story.
3. The marketing design: Okay, this one is strange but I love all the background walls for the ski slopes, ice rinks, jersey deals the skiers wear...the blue/green variation design is just beautiful and cool like the winter games! Love it!
4. Drama: Okay, typically I hate drama (especially since I work with 13-18 year old gals at Kanakuk) but there has been drama for Apollo Ohno and the whole country of Korea (is Korea a country...oh, goodness, please don't leave comments to tell me I'm not smart). The Koreans feel like he was violently moving his arms in this 1500M race but Apollo says they were all bumping and making a ton of contact...oh, the drama! More speed skating I think tonight! Woohoo! Apollo is going for #7!
5. Alexandre Bilodeau: This is the mogul Canadian skier who won Gold for Canada. I was just a hot mess in tears with this one! He skiied for his older brother with cerebral palsy. Amazing story and amazing brothers!

Kanakuk Ashley Robbins
