New Chapter Begins...

Hey K2 Kanakuk Gals!
Well, since yesterday as the "I'm back" message and my brain is still not back into high gear I thought I would tell you about a new chapter for Shay and I and for Trish and I with kamp. Nothing major as far as summer...Trish is the Women's Director and I'm still the Assistant Women's Director...but in the 9 months I'm now officially a FULL TIME MOM! Woohoo!

I am so very excited and can't imagine any one else getting all this time to watch our girl ("s" becomes plural in November) each day. It's been just awesome! I am still doing some work from home and helping Trish as I can but life is definitely different. I once again am in awe of this ministry that desires for family to be first!

So if emails aren't getting responded to quick enough or facebook (which let's be honest I don't check all that often anyways, but I'll try and be better) isn't updated often you will know why! I am just playing on the floor with my most favorite firstborn...

Hope everyone is having a great day...tomorrow I think I will blog on school supply shopping...it was one of my favorite things to do before school started each year...even in college! I know you will all be rushing back for that!

I'm back...

Hello K2 Kanakomo Girlies!
Wow! Is it really August 30th! How did that even happen? I feel like it was just yesterday that Shay and I were moving the family out to K2 on May 10th. Oh, I hope all of you had a great rest of the summer and even now with maybe a few days or weeks of school under your wing that you know more than ever how much God loves you and how He has made you a young woman of influence and leadership no matter what your personality! You are made exactly and wonderfully (Is exactly a word...probably not, oh well)

Well, I don't have a way to mass email you all from home (I'll send out a mass email soon to all 2010 girl kampers) about this little blog. It's strictly a K2 girls blog that is mostly random and pointless but will make you laugh or at least roll your eyes and chuckle a bit (again, chuckle? really?) but there will also be some times when I will post on pop culture, deep heart stuff, and K2 related stuff (like Nasa (our k2 rapper) and Brady Toops (our k2 worship leader) music coming out). Anyways, it's just a fun place to stay connected!

Sure miss the gates of K2! All the Kamp directors are all back in Branson and gearing up for Summer 2011...seriously, already! :)

It's just a small way to stay connected to Kanakuk K2 all year round! Join on facebook or a "feed" and you will know when I post something...

Term 3/6 Closing Ceremonies...

Hey Kanakuk Term 3/6 Parents and Friends,

Well, my fear has come true...blogging as we run kamp and try to close down kamp for the winter is proving to be a bit difficult. I'm so very sorry! Thank you so much for being understanding as I'm sure you are so anxious to be reunited with your daughter! Soon Moms and Dads, soon! In fact, so soon that I wanted to post specifically on what August 11th and 12th look like for you all.

AUGUST 11TH:
5:00 pm Parents' Early Luggage Pick Up / Clothing (Store) Open
5:30 pm Picnic for Parents
6:00 pm Girl Kampers come to Picnic: REUNION!
6:45 pm Family Vespers (Joe White speaks to all parents and kampers)
7:30 pm Kamper Recognition (Each cabin does individual cabin time)
8:00 pm Tribal Flag Ceremony (We announce which tribe won the "term")
8:30 pm Awards Ceremony
10:00 pm Finish Awards (You can take your kamper this night or they can stay 1 more night. All we have the morning of the 12th is breakfast for the kampers. Then they say bye so they are missing nothing if they leave August 11th.)

AUGUST 12TH:

August 9...

Hey Kanakuk Term 3/6 Parents,

I am so very sorry I am so behind...instead of trying and tackling the last 2 days I am just jumping back into August 9. So sorry! End of the summer is pretty hectic so thanks for understanding!

Women of the Bible Study: Jezebel / 1 Kings 21

Verse: 1 Peter 3:3-4

Morning/Afternoon: Normal day here at K2!

Night: FINAL TRIBALS! The girls headed down to their Kickapoo or Kiowa tribal campfire to do a last night "charge" to their tribes. Then they come up for ice cream sundaes...yummy!

P.S. Just wanted to let you all know I will be posting tomorrow the details of closing ceremonies for you all. Please note that the morning of August 12 we do no awards or really anything but feed the kampers breakfast then you all come get them. All our awards and ceremonies are Wednesday, August 11, afternoon/night. Thanks!

August 6...

Hey Kanakuk Term 3/6 Parents,
Good morning! I hope each of you are getting some "honeymoon" time with your spouses while at least 1 of your kiddos is here at kamp or maybe just some needed rest and relaxation before school starts for your family...is it really close to school time again? Here is the day for you all:

Women of the Bible Study: Sarah / Genesis 16:1-6, 18:1-15 & 21:1-7
Verse: Psalm 37:3-4

Morning: Normal morning of classes.

Afternoon: Normal afternoon of classes.

Night: K-LIFE TONIGHT! Don Ford, a dear friend of Shay and I's and President of AfterDark and Pure Excitement, is speaking tonight. He is such a fun speaker who brings in laughter quickly but also brings truth of the Lord and His Word with each word he shares. I can't remember his topic tonight (it's 3rd term...i should be able too but I think my brain is on preggo and blondeness overload :) but I promise God's heart will be shown through Don.

p.s. It's laundry day! Yeah! Clean clothes for kampers!

August 5...

Hey Kanakuk Term 3/6 Parents,
Exactly 1 week K2 summer 2010 is complete...again, I am choosing denial and picking non-reality to say NO to this coming date of August 12! Ha! Just kidding...I'm sure you all are missing your daughters and trust me as a new mom I would just be a hot mess after 13 or 25 days without our little one! I can't imagine! Here is the day...

Women of the Bible Study: Eve / Genesis 2:16-3:13
Verse: James 4:7

Morning: Normal morning of classes.

Afternoon: Only 4th and 5th period b/c...we have a Party!

Night: AFTERDARK IN THE ARK! This party is one of the favs of the summer and I'm sure it will be for this term too! We totally black out the volleyball court with black tarp (we have lights inside...lots of them!) and then we have hoses spraying overtop of the court. It's so much fun! It is probably the top party of the term as far as kampers just loving and raving about it! Don't worry all your kids make it on the ark and survive the flood :)!

August 4...

Hey Kanakuk Term 3/6 Parents,
The Robbins' team has some time off from kamp but I am blogging "ahead" of the day...that's a first to actually be ahead! Ha! Anyways, so I am going to blog what is supposed to happen but if rain comes or other changes...well, I won't know any of that b/c we won't be here! So here is the run down of what is supposed to happen today...(and tomorrow's post is the same intro)

Women of the Bible Study: Tamar / Genesis 38
Verse: Psalm 27:14

Morning: Normal Morning of classes.

Afternoon: Normal afternoon of classes.

Night: CROSSTALK. Oh, parents, this is just an awesome night. Dr. Joe White does a crosstalk that is just amazing. Crosstalk is a night we bring the gospel presentation. Joe does a great job of first quoting God's Word from Matthew, then we all come to the girls gym for the gospel presentation that Joe does. It's raw but I love how Joe in the end comes out to wrap it up and shares that this was just a dinky drama...nothing compared to Jesus' life and death. He talks about how much Jesus loves each one of them and wants their WHOLE heart to be His. I know that our team will be praying for softened hearts of girls that don't know the love of Jesus and also for gals that have just had a tough year where the worth of who they are has been saturated by the world's voices not by the Lord's. Would you pray with me for tonight that hearts would be soft to know of how priceless they are to the Lord and that life change happens when we turn and follow Jesus? Thanks so much...

August 3...

Hey Kanakuk Term 3/6 Parents,
1 week and 2 days...NOOOOO!!!! I think if I tell myself it's not really happening then maybe it won't...great logic isn't it?! Here is the day moms and dads:

Women of the Bible Study: Rahab / Joshua 2:1-21 & 6:17-25
Verse: Psalm 31:24

Morning: Normal morning of classes.

Afternoon: We had our "all day" party today. So that means no normal classes and we start the party early! We had the World Cup playing in the girls gym, Atlantis at the Pool, slip-n-slide was a country, down at the dock you could take "gondala" (spelling could be questionable?) rides at the dock, and some I think I'm forgetting...

Night: WORLD'S FAIR! We had an awesome talent show we called "World's Got Talent." I love watching kampers be in the show as they are so gifted. We had silly talents, singing talent, random talents, and just many many more! Some of your daughters were in it and I'm pretty sure our photographer got a ton of pictures. Don't forget you can check the kanakuk site with your username and password to see hundreds of pics from the day! After the talent show we had a dance party that was awesome! It was just a blast!

August 2...

Hey Kanakuk Term 3/6 Parents and Friends,
What a great day! I again am in awe of the fact there are 10 days left in the summer of K2 2010. I might say that every day because of how baffled I am by it. Here is the scoop on the day:

Women of the Bible Study: Hagar / Genesis 16 & Genesis 21:8-21
Verse: Isaiah 35:4

Morning: Normal morning of classes.

Afternoon: Normal afternoon of classes.

Night: K-LIFE TONIGHT! (with an awesome surprise!) You as the parents are getting this scoop before the kampers even know but Michael W. Smith (long time kanakuk supporter and friends with Dr. Joe) is doing a concert tonight....WOOOHOOO!! I am headed out the door to go see it! K7 and KWest are headed over to K2 too...

August 1...

Hey Kanakuk Term 3/6 Parents and Friends,
It cannot really be August 1st...really??? This summer just keeps spinning faster and faster! It needs to slow down!! Here is the jist of the day. It was jam packed as it was the 2nd day of our Term 6 kampers but also a Sunday...

Women of the Bible Study: NONE. On Sundays the kids can do their own quiet times.
Verse: NONE. See above.

Morning: Sleep in...check. Coffee Cake...check. I'm 3rd Sunday with Joe White...check. Sunday morning at K2 are the best!!!

Afternoon: We had our Term 6 kiddos for the early afternoon finishing up their swim tests, cabin photos, and going to get their Kanakuk clothing from the store while our 25 day kampers had their normal sunday of an extended rest period! After that we all met at 3:45 and the kampers headed off to our Sunday Funday which was basically every water activity in K2 and sno cones! Always a perfect combination!

Night: UNIT NIGHT! We have 4 units of cabins and we have a UC (unit coordinator) that helps oversee 4-5 cabins. Tonight each UC planned a fun night just for the small unit of cabins. We had Christmas in July, Survivor night, and 2 movie night themes. It is a favorite night as it is smaller groups and fun times for the 4-5 cabins to be together!
