Welcome Term 5 Parents...

{source}
Hey NEW K2 Kanakuk Parents (you guys will be Term 45/5 is what we call you because it's Terms 4&5 put together to make 28 nights and just Term 5 for 14 nighters)

Welcome to the K2 GIRLS SIDE blog! I am so excited to share a small window into the girls' side of K2 and let you all know (in real time, as opposed to very slow snail mail) what is going on at this place. Some things you should know:

1. My grammar is awful. My mom is an english teacher and I am her biggest failure! Haha! But seriously! I type like I speak it.
2. This is only a window. It is very structured so it is something I have time to do each day while still being fully focused at kamp and kampers and not a computer screen.
3. There is no way I can upload a picture of every kamper. I pick 5 pictures a day that are "pictures" to exemplify the day the best. Please forgive me if I repeat certain people...please forgive!
4. Email me anytime you have any questions. ashley@kanakuk.com

I start tomorrow with letting you know the rundown of the day! Feel free to pass KanakukAshley on to your friends and family who might want to know what all your daughter is up to too...

July 17...

Hey K2 Kanakuk Parents,
Well, I'm actually out of kamp today but still wanted to give you the run down of the day.

Devo: Esther 1:5-8, Ephesians 5:22 & 25
Verse of the Day: 1 Corinthians 10:13

Morning: Normal morning classes.

Afternoon: normal afternoon classes.

Trips: Girls cabins 7 and 8 headed out for a 1 night trip at K-Wet.
Treetops: Cabins 11 and 12.

Night: WARBALL TOURNAMENT! This night is super fun! All the girls dress up in their tribal colors and we have a kickapoo vs. kiowa warball tournament. Warball is a combination of dodgeball and, well, I'm not sure what other game. I am awful at throwing, catching...but somewhat talented at dodging...well, I used to be pre-preggo life. Now I run the music for the night! haha! Again I'm blogging ahead so you guys get the updates even when I'm gone but I am not there so don't know what tribe won...so sorry! I'm sure it was epic!

July 16...

Hey K2 Kanakuk Parents,
1st day of normal schedules that they picked online this year! It's so great that the online scheduling worked and now kids literally hand pick their schedules!

Devo: Esther 1:1-21 (our devo book is on Esther this year)
Verse of the Day: Proverbs 16:18

Morning: Normal morning of periods 1-3

Afternoon: Normal afternoon of periods 4-6

Trips: Girls cabins 9 and 10 headed out to K-Wet. K-Wet is our 1 night trip where they do all things lake/water and then have a major bonding experience of the K-Wet Challenge Course. It's  awesome!

Treetops: Cabins 19 and 20.

Night: K-LIFE TONIGHT! Oh, sweet klifes! K2 kids love K-life nights! Crazy dance music, silly videos, amazing worship with Brady Toops and Moriah Peters (moriah is a guest for a few k-lifes and I'm now obsessed with her cd...yes, I still have cd's), and DON FORD spoke. I must admit I am not in there for every K-life but I know it's life changing!!! He is the President of  AfterDark, a sister ministry of  Kanakuk and he is the Assistant to the Director at K2. He's awesome!

July 15...

Hey K2 Kanakuk Parents,
Welcome again to the K2 Girls Blog! It's so fun! We had a great day 2 and your daughters all have had their pictures taken with their cabin, bought the Kanakuk clothing and gear, and did a swim test. Then mix in all kinds of fun, sno cones, slip-n-slides, etc. Epic day!

Devo: none (it's a Sunday)
Verse of the Day: none (it's Sunday)

Morning: Coffee cake, sleeping in, and church with a lake view! It was great! THE BEST SPEAKER IN THE WORLD SHAY ROBBINS...can you tell I'm biased!...spoke today and it was powerful. He spoke on Moments! Moments that change our lives. His title was "Seizing Moments and making them Movements."

Afternoon: We had station rotations of clothing, swim test, photos, sno cones, slipnslides, pool and lots of other things. It was good cabin bonding while getting stuff done. Perfect combo!

Trip: none out yet.
Treetops: none.

Night: PARTY AND TRIBALS. We had a half party tonight called the Bedrock Blowout (cavemen, flinstones, dinosaurs, etc). It was a fun party! They run around having to sing lyrics to find clues. Clues are people hidden all around kamp. Then we had a quick dance party. Always a highlight! Then all the kamp headed down for opening tribals where Joe White does an incredible tradition of the Indian dance and then the chiefs and princesses for the term take their tribes to their tribal ring for a rally time. If your daughter doesn't have a tribe she will be assigned one tonight and welcomed with open arms. A fun package if you get a letter telling you what tribe they are in is to send yellow and blue stuff for Kickapoo and red and black/white stuff for Kiowas.

Okay, hope you guys are doing good without your priceless daughters! We sure are thankful to have them for 2 weeks or a month! If you need anything feel free to email me ashley@kanakuk.com. Praying for a mighty mighty life changing term...

July 5...

Hey K2 Kanakuk Parents,
It's a beautiful morning here and you guys are almost half way through the 2 week term and for you 28 Night parents you guys only have 1 more week (and 1 day) till you see your daughters! (don't worry I'll be posting about closing ceremonies so you can have all the details).

Devo: Esther 8:1-7
Verse of the Day: James 4:2-4

Morning: Normal 'ole morning here in Lampe.

Afternoon: normal afternoon too.

Trips: Girls 9 and 10 take off again this morning for K-Wet this time.
Treetops: none.

Night: K-LIFE TONIGHT! We split this night between the 14 nighters and 28 nighters. We want all our kids to hear a Purity message so we all do worship together and then the 14 nighters stay in the girls gym for Joe's purity message and the 28 nighters go to the boys gym for a message from Don Ford. Please pray for your gal's hearts to continue to be softened to the Holy Spirit and to how much Jesus loves them. We, as a staff, pray in our weight room each morning and this morning I went and just found my heart resting on the word SALVATION. Asking Jesus to let girls see salvation in this place...hope, love and the grace that only Jesus can give.

New Blog Header...

Hey K2 Kanakuk Friends,
Well, the blog header has been updated for a more parent focused blog for summer 2012. The 'tagline' of my parents' blog focus is "A Window to their World." Meaning a little window to the world of K2 since they aren't here with them. So it's our chance to open up and show them the daily runnings of K2, teach lingo, and just be a window of what all they are learning, doing and becoming.

So hence the windows...the picture is from the City of Savannah. Thank you.

Be awesome & Love Jesus,

How is it May 2nd...

Hey K2 Kanakuk Friends,
Well between now and day 1 of Kanakuk K2 Term 1 2012 I am pretty sure there won't be tons of blogging! The hubs and I are busy getting last minute details, staff, etc ready for summer 2012 while also packing up life and getting ready to move out to K2. So please forgive...

BUT then on June 2nd will be all for PARENTS! I blog everyday when I am at K2 about exactly what the day looks like for the girls side of K2. I share the devo of the day, who is on the ropes course, morning and afternoon activities and night time event. So if you are a kamper this summer make sure your mom and dad check in each day of your term. I put 5 pictures up of each day that capture the day's events. It's so fun for parents b/c it's in real time as opposed to 5 days later when they finally get your snail mail!

So here's to here and there blogging...June 2nd will relaunch...

Be awesome & Love Jesus,
