June 25...

Hey Kanakuk Term...well, some Term 1, Term 1B and now starting Term 2/2B,
Today we say farewell to such an awesome term and awesome group of kampers. BUT we also say hello to a whole new set. It's an emotionally charged day where you pray for the kampers leaving that the things the Lord has done will not just be a 13 or 25 day "thing" but will truly bring about life change in their every day world...respecting the guidelines set by you guys as their parents, having a daily quiet time, walking away from a group of girls that are not great influences...the list could go on and on. I pray so often that Kamp is never about Kamp...that it is about kids leaving encouraged to look and live more like Jesus every day!

If you are a "new" term parents...welcome! This is just a snapshot of the K2 Girls' side of kamp. Enjoy! Oh, yeah, I will probably refer to you as "Term 2 and Term 2A parents." Term 2A equates to Term 3 13-day term. Hope that makes sense...

June 23...

Hey Kanakuk Term 1 & 1B Parents,
Well, 1 more day and we shall see you all at K2 or if you aren't able to make it to closing 2 more days and you will have a sweet reunion with your daughter! Woohooo! We have just had an unbelieveable Term 1 (and Term 2 13Day)...it's just been incredible! Here is the run down of the day:

Morning: We had a few periods of specialty and then we did competition practice. Competition practice is so the girls know how to "play" their competition for June 24th when we play for real and it's Kickapoos vs. Kiowas for tribal points!

Afternoon: Bill Lantz Memorial Pentathlon! I love pentathlon day! The kampers can individually run the short or long individual (swim, jump rope, canoe, run, archery...are the 5 events to the course) or they can do one of those things for their "team." Each cabin is a team and most of the girls do the team race where they pick 2 runners, 2 swimmers, 2 archers, etc. It's an awesome finisher to an awesome term! I always get teary eyed as cabins come sprinting down the main road to the finish line all together! Love it!

Night: Final Campfire. Tonight Joe White gave the last charge to our kampers. It is a special night and always, prayerfully, solidifies (not sure of spelling of this word?) their hearts to know of their worth in Christ Jesus alone.

Women of the Bible Study: Esther / Esther 1-10
Verse: Hebrews 12:1-2

Morning: Normal Morning of Classes

Afternoon: Normal Afternoon of Classes

Night: Final Tribal Night. The girls split into Kiowas and Kickapoos and have one last tribal hoorah! They get all signed up for their competitions that they do for tribal points on the 24th. So fun!

June 21 in Pictures...

Hey Kanakuk Term 1 & 1B Parents,
These are some of the snap shots from the day. Tonight is K-Life so no pictures from that but these below are so cute! The one with the gal and the sign is a new thing our kamper kare leadership gals came up with. They had gals write whatever and then our main photographer took pics. I'm guessing they will be on the web available to see and buy. Such a great idea!

Me and an awesome kamper in Triathlete! She is a legend at K2...(I won't ever put kids names up unless I have parental permission so hence me calling her "awesome kamper" Just FYI)

June 21...

Hey Kanakuk Term 1 & 1B Parents,
Well, today has been an awesome day! Good sun, great kampers, and awesome day! I honestly was telling our staff today..."Can you believe it is June 21st?" How did that happen so very quickly. I am sure for you, as moms, dads and grandparents it's felt like the longest 21 days thus far without your fun family all together...but that ends soon, like in 3 days! Crazy! Here is the day for you:

Women of the Bible Study: Jezebel / (I currently have misplaced my book?)
Verse: See above...blonde moment (more like blonde life for me most of the time..haha!)

Morning: Normal Classes this morning. Gorgeous day!

Afternoon: Normal Classes. We did have swim competition which is between Kickapoos vs. Kiowas! The girls sign up (cabins 1-12 do swim competition) for different events. So fun! This was during 4th period.

Night: K-LIFE TONIGHT! Wooohoo!!! Again, I honestly cannot tell you how much kampers love K-Life...like love it! Tonight Dr. Joe White will be speaking and the title of his message is "Blindside." I am not totally sure of the topic...maybe using the movie as a message, talking about protecting the house analogy, or having a left tackle that protects your blindside...lots of metaphors in my ideas of what "Blindside" could mean. :)

June 20...

Hey Kanakuk Term 1 & 1B Parents,
Well, finally we are caught up. Again I am just so very sorry. Computers...gee whiz! Okay, so today! It was just an awesome Sunday here at K2. There just aren't better days than Sundays around here. I mean...Joe White speaks, coffee cake, fried chicken, lots of chill time, "Chillax" Sunday Funday (more details below)...I mean that is a GREAT day! Details below:

Women of the Bible Study: No one. Today's Sunday so the girls do their own quiet time.
Verse: See above note.

Morning: Sleep in. Optional breakfast buffet with Coffee cake! Yummy. Church with Joe White doing the "I'm Third" Sunday talk. FCA Huddle Groups: the kampers split with 1 counselor to talk about what Joe's message was about. FOB: "flat on back" like chill time in the cabin, write letters, hang out, etc. They don't literally have to be "flat on back."

Afternoon: Lunch: fried chicken - Yummy! More FOB! Girls love this day! Then at 3:45 we meet in the church for CHILLAX DAY. Chillax day is amazing! The kampers can go to the dock to hang out, get casual boat rides, float out to a dock that serves candy and coke, and just have a blast at the dock. They can also come up to the pool (not by walking but by our big tram thingys...I don't know what these are technically called but they are big and carry people). At the pool they could get fresh fruit or a nice cold slushy of their choice! It was an epic day! Epic = awesome!

Night: It's UC UNIT NIGHT. We have 5 UC's (Unit Coordinators) that are girls that are in charge of 4 cabins. They help the counselors with anything from getting more paper towels, coming to devos to help, or just hanging with the kids in the 4 cabins they have in their unit. They are always gals that have worked before and they are awesome! Anyways, they plan a night for just their unit. It's a blast! Here is what the cabins are doing:
Cabin 1-4: Making letters for military folks / Water Balloon game / Down to the dock for Smores
Cabin 5-8: Karaoke / Cereal party / Games
Cabin 9-12: Making bobby pins with cute buttons / Trail Mix / Games
Cabin 14-16: Making picture frames / Snacks / Games

I am sure you all are anxious to get here in just a few days...is it seriously June 20?? Crazy! I will be posting the detailed closing schedule soon. Can't wait to see all you families!

Okay, so I'm a bit biased to TriAthlete...Just kidding but these pics were too good not too share with you all! Don't worry fellow moms/preggo women...I am REALLY REALLY SLOW...but the girls encourage even me! It's awesome!
