July 25...

Hey Kanakuk Term 3/5 Parents and Friends,
The Robbins' Family has returned from time off and from all accounts today was another Awesome Sunday here at K2! The party is happening right now and the kampers are all dancing to some cool line dances we teach! Here is the day for you:

Women of the Bible Study: None. On Sundays they can have their own quiet time.
Verse: None.

Morning/Afternoon: What makes a Kanakuk Sunday morning fantabulous? 1. Sleep in. 2. Coffee Cake. 3. Church with a million dollar view of the lake. 4. Awesome church speakers. 5. Lots of cabin hang time to just chill and rest/relax. 6. Fried Chicken. 7. Chillax Sunday Funday. All of the above make for a great morning/afternoon.

Night: GALATICA SPECTACULA! This party is full of crazy and random costumes! Lots of foil is usually used! The dance party is happening right now in our K-Dome and it looked like the kampers were having a great time!

Cabins 19 & 20 headed out to K-Wild for the night tonight and are hopefully having some great time around a fire with the stars up above!

July 24...

Hey Kanakuk Term 3/5 Parents,
Well, July 24th is here and the day is about to start. I am bloggin early instead of late as the Robbins family does have time off later today and tomorrow. So I might be a bit late on posting the details of Sunday...

Women of the Bible Study: The Bleeding Woman (what a name right? :)) / Mark 5:25-34
Verse: Matthew 17:20

Morning: Normal morning of classes.

Afternoon: Normal afternoon of classes (this is the last day of Higher Ground. Sunday is a laid back day with no classes and Monday we will start our normal individualized schedules for each kamper)

Night: TRIBALS! Tonight the girls split into Kickapoo and Kiowa tribes and get to begin to dream and plan the Karnival night that they put on for the guy kampers. This is a long tradition at K1 and K2 (at K1 they call it Stunt). I love the tradition of Kamp and how far it dates back but also the new energy each term of girls bring to it.

Tomorrow is Sunday...and Sundays at K2 might be the best days of all! Stay tuned...

July 23...

Hey Kanakuk Term 3/5 Parents and Friends,
What a day! The weather has just been beautiful! Warm, but beautiful! Here is the day for you guys!

Women of the Bible Study: Jochebed / Exodus 2:1-10 & Hebrews 11:23
Verse: Romans 8:28

Morning: Normal morning of Higher Ground Classes.

Afternoon: Normal afternoon of Higher Ground classes.

Night: K-LIFE TONIGHT! K2 Kampers LOVE LOVE LOVE K-Life nights! We bring them in with loud music, lights, and fun dance moves! It's awesome! Then we have a skit or video to show them. Then worship with our worship leader, Brady Toops, and then our speaker. Tonight Don Ford speaks. Don Ford is the president of AfterDark and Pure Excitement. Both ministries are with Joe White and Don is at the head of them. He is awesome and it is awesome that your kids get to hear from him.

Cabins 17 & 18 girls headed out (again!) for K-Wild (K-Wild is the hiking, rappelling, climbing adventures). Also cabin 11 and cabin 16 girls headed out to K-Wet for 2 days of K-Wet (water sports, challenge course, and lots of chill time as a cabin).

Hope this post finds everyone doing well!

Hey Kanakuk Term 3/5 Parents and Friends,
Well, here are some great pictures from July 22 and 23. We are having a great term and 125 girls on the girls side are all in K-Equip this week. (K-Equip is what Joe and DJ White teach on Christian Leadership. It's awesome!)

July 22...

Hey Kanakuk Term 3/5 Parents,
What a day! It was absolutely beautiful today! There was a slight breeze...and during Term 3/5 breezes are heavenly (especially during triathlete for me!). We have had a great day here at K2 and things are starting to have a rhythm to them as the girls catch on to the schedule. Here is the run down...

Women of the Bible Study: Lydia / Acts 16:6-15
Verse: Matthew 28:19-20

Morning: Normal morning of Higher Ground classes.

Afternoon: Normal afternoon of Higher Ground classes.

Night: TRIBAL WARBALL! We have a huge all girl warball tournament! It's awesome! Kiowas versus Kickapoos and then we have a massive game of kampers versus staff at the end! It's a blast! I will not be participating as I am of no value to a warball game! I'm just awful at it...well, I am a great dodger! But other than that I can't throw nor can I catch...so I'll simply be watching! The girls will be decked out in blue and yellow and red and white depending on their tribe! It's going to be epic I'm sure!

Cabins 17 and 18 are still at K-Wet and will be returning to K2 in the morning (but only to leave again for K-Wild for 1 night). Anyways, that's the day for you guys!

July 21...

Hey Kanakuk Term 3/5 Parents and Friends,
Well, today has been well, very warm!!! I love it! I'm sure that is weird for most of you to read but I just love Term 3/5 when it is just blazin' hot and yet at Kamp smiles are still on faces! Here is the rundown of the day...

Women of the Bible Study: Hannah / 1 Samuel 1:1-28
Verse: Philippians 4:6-7

Morning: We had our first full day of Higher Ground today. (See yesterday post to learn about Higher Ground). We had our morning classes where each specialty stays together for all 6 periods of the day for these first 5 days. Anyways, it was a great morning of classes!

Afternoon: Again, not lots to report except the girls were lovin' life if they had picked any type of water classes. We had periods 4-6 and it was a great afternoon!

Night: K-LIFE TONIGHT! We have K-Life tonight which is a night of awesomeness! The kampers come into the girls gym and go crazy with some fun Lecrae or some fun dance song, we have a skit or fun video, have praise and worship, and then a speaker. Tonight is Dr. Joe White and his message is on Creation. I think if it's a clear night he will take the talk part up to our upper fields to do his message under the stars above. Really cool! Please be praying for kampers to know that everything about them, EVERYTHING, was knit together by the Ultimate Creator!

Trips started today too...our 25 day kampers and our oldest 13 day kampers get to go on K-Wet (all water activities, stay overnight) or K-Wild (all hiking, rapelling etc activities and stay overnight). K-Wild is not required so the girls can tell us if they want to go. K-Wet is required (trust me girls love K-Wet so it's a favorite trip). This morning after breakfast the girls of cabin 17 & 18 headed just across the cove to our K-Wet campsite to spend 2 nights there! It's such an awesome time of cabin bonding and I'm sure they are having a blast!

Hope you all are doing well! We sure are thankful for you all and for any prayers for your daughters during this time while they are away from cell phones, the addicting world of facebook, twittering, and all the other "stuff" that can so easily pull at them! Thanks for entrusting us and please let me know if I can do anything for you!

July 20...

Hey Kanakuk Term 3/5 Parents and Friends,
Well, day 2 is always a bit hectic as we cram a bunch into one morning...our kamp guidelines, cabin pictures, getting kanakuk stuff at the store, swim test, and just some fun cabin bonding! So it's always a really fun morning to say the least. Here is the scoop on the day...

Women of the Bible Study: We start the devo book tomorrow...
Verse: See above.

Morning: We went through the routine of most mornings to tell the kampers what to expect, talked about the devo book, had honor condo (we clean our cabins each morning), and then headed to our big event activity. We have swim test, pictures, and clothing (the kanakuk store is open and they can buy stuff) and then they have all these fun games that they play as a cabin.

Afternoon: This afternoon we start 5 days of Higher Ground. Higher Ground is the 1st 5 days of kamp that kids can do some other specialties besides our typical 7. We have scuba, fin & feather, cheer, sea & ski, and K-Equip. So it's a way to have 2 specialities for our 25 day kampers and a way for our 13 dayers to get to do K-Equip (which is our leadership development program that Joe White does). Along with those 5 we have our typical ones (bball, vball, fitnut, all around, soccer, tennis, triathlete, and...umm...am i forgetting one? pregnancy moment! haha!).

Night: HOEDOWN SHOWDOWN/Opening Night of Tribals. We do our 1/2 party tonight so we all deck out in country gear and Joe White even does the line dance callin'! It's awesome! I think tonight for this term only Joe will be coming in on a real horse and saving his lady, Debbie Jo from the evil cowboys! It should be awesome! Then after some eatin' and dancin' the kids go down to the tribal ring for our opening night of Tribals (all the girls will be placed in a tribe if they don't have one...Kickapoos are yellow and blue and Kiowas are red and white). It's just a jam packed day of fun!

Hope you all aren't missing them too much and please know that we are so very thankful for you entrusting your precious daughters to us. Comment or email me if you need anything!

July 19...

Hey Kanakuk Term 3/5 Parents!
WELCOME TO KANAKUK ASHLEY! The K2 Girls side Blog! I hope you love it and just get a small snapshot into the world of K2 girls side! Here is the rundown of the day...

Women of the Bible Study: None. We are having Changeover today!
Verse: See above.

Morning: We said goodbye to our Term 2/4 kampers and got our staff recharged and reamped for Term 3/5. Woohoo!!

Afternoon: We said hello to our new Term 3/5 kampers!!! It was a great opening day. You parents got to drop your precious girls off at the back gate and we whisked them away to our dock for a day 1 jet ski or boat ride. It's such a fun opening day! We then take them to our main dock and have them meet one of their counselors, ride a tram up cardiac, then head to their cabin to meet the other counselor for their cabin. It's just a fun, exciting day!

Night: K-LIFE TONIGHT! We have an opening K-Life with skits, crazy music, and Dr. Joe White speaks to the kampers to Welcome them!

Well...day 1 of our last 25 day term! Crazy! It's going to be nuts!!! Woohooo!

July 18...

Hey Kanakuk Term 2/4 Parents,
Well, today is a crazy one. The run down of the day is below but also the DETAILS OF CLOSING CEREMONIES are also down there. Hope it helps and sorry to just now be posting it...

Women of the Bible Study: Esther / Esther 1-10
Verse: Hebrews 12:1-2

Morning: We have church this morning but after that begins tribal competitions and packing. It's a somewhat crazy morning!

Afternoon: We will have an all K2 party! We open all our water stuff and the kampers get one last day to have a ball before you all arrive!

Night: See below at this point...

JULY 18TH CLOSING CEREMONIES:
5:00 pm Parents' Early Luggage Pick Up / Clothing (Store) Open
5:30 pm Picnic for Parents
6:00 pm Girl Kampers come to Picnic: REUNION!
6:45 pm Family Vespers (Joe White speaks to all parents and kampers)
7:30 pm Kamper Recognition (Each cabin does individual cabin time)
8:00 pm Tribal Flag Ceremony (We announce which tribe won the 'term')
8:30 pm Awards Ceremony
10:00 pm Finish Awards (You can take your kamper this night or they can stay 1 more night)

JULY 19TH MORNING:
8:30 am Parents' Luggage Pick up
9:00 am Kampers Depart
(So we have a low key morning of the 19th. You can arrive at 8:30 am and get luggage then kampers just eat and leave this morning. We do all 'ceremony' stuff the night of 18th)"

I hope that helps and basically we do all our closing ceremonies on the night of the 18th. The morning of the 19th is simply breakfast and goodbyes! What a great term...I can't believe we only have 1 more term of kids (2 terms of 13 dayers!).

P.S. Don't forget to sign up SUPER FAST for next summer since we are doing 5 terms of 14 night terms and 2 terms of 28 night terms. It's going to fill fast!

July 17...

Hey Kanakuk Term 2/4 Parents,
Well, I just cannot believe July 17th is here...crazy!!! Here is the scoop and I'll post after this the closing ceremony details.

Women of the Bible Study: Deborah / Judges 4-5
Verse: Psalm 20:7

Morning: We had 2 hours of specialties this morning and 1 hour of tribal competition. Each gal signs up with their tribe to do a competition (swim, basketball, volleyball, soccer, girls football) because tomorrow we will have all the competitions going on and it will be for tribal points to determine if Kickapoo or Kiowa win the term.

Afternoon: We had our PENTATHLON and it was epic! I love Pentathlon day and totally cry (non-pregnancy related) every time. There is just something about all the kampers rallying and coming together as a cabin. Not every cabin every term is all best friends but on this day they come together and no matter how fast or not so fast you run, jump rope, or canoe, every gal rallies and is a part of the team! It's awesome!

Night: FINAL CAMPFIRE. Dr. Joe White gives his last charge to kampers before heading home about walking faithfully with Jesus each day! We also announce the 5 princess and chief nominations. We will announce the winner at the Awards ceremony on the 18th.
